In short
The Victims Assistance Program allows victims of crime in Canada to attend hearings of the Parole Board of Canada (PBC) where the offender who caused them harm is appearing. Victims may attend as observers or to provide a statement. A hearing may take place in person, generally in the facility where the offender is incarcerated, or remotely via videoconference or teleconference. The Victims Assistance Program offers financial assistance to cover travel, accommodation, meal, transportation, airport surcharges, and childcare or dependent care costs related to participating in a hearing.
