The Subvention.app guide

Everything the platform does, from the first question to preparing an application. For businesses, households, and developers connecting their AI agent.

01

What Subvention.app does

The service finds the government programs a business or household seems eligible for, and tells you what is missing for the others.

What kind of assistance

Grants, loans and loan guarantees, tax credits, and advisory services (mentoring, training, expert advice). They come from the federal government, the 13 provinces and territories, municipalities and public organizations.

Your list adapts to your province: you see its programs plus those offered across Canada. Program records are checked against official sources every week. Each one shows when it was last updated and links to the official page.

Who it's for

  • Businesses, from self-employed workers to established companies: choose “For my business”.
  • Non-profits, co-ops, artists and cultural organizations also start with “For my business”. Each group has its own page in the funding section.
  • Households: choose “For me and my household”. That covers energy-efficient renovations, heating, electric vehicles, buying a first home, education, family and health.

Limits

  • Results are for information only. The organization that runs a program alone decides who is eligible and who gets funded.
  • The AI can be wrong. Each assessment shows its reasoning, its confidence and what is left to check.
  • Always check the deadline and conditions on the official page before you apply.
  • Subvention.app never submits an application for you and takes no commission on the funding you receive.

02

Creating a profile and answering questions

You don't need an account to start. Your profile is built one question at a time.

First steps

On the home page, choose who you are searching for. For a business, three short steps come first: the business name, the postal code, then the project you want funded. For a household, there are only the postal code and the project.

  • We look up the name in public registries (Corporations Canada and Régie du bâtiment du Québec licences) to fill in what we can.
  • The postal code gives us the province, region and city.
  • One sentence is enough for the project. The AI pulls answers from it for you to check, then asks the rest.

Question order

The AI then asks one question at a time. The next one is the question that helps settle the most programs that are still uncertain, and it shows that number. Optional questions about the business owner come last, together.

A question can wait (“Later”) or stay unanswered (“I prefer not to answer”). You can go back and change any answer. Some questions have a shortcut: your NEQ for the legal form, or your website address for the size and age of the business.

Business sector

The sector goes in a single field. Type an activity, such as “bakery”, or a NAICS code. If you have the CAE code listed on your Registraire des entreprises statement, enter it with its description, then pick the matching NAICS class: programs use the NAICS class. A business with several activities can choose up to 3 sectors.

Sensitive information

A few questions ask for sensitive information under Quebec's Law 25, such as the owner's age and identity or household income. They are optional and marked Sensitive in your profile.

To answer, you tick “I agree to answer this question”. The question first explains why it matters. Your answer is kept on our servers, hosted in the United States for now, and never shared with a third party. You can withdraw it at any time.

Recalculated with every answer

Every saved answer triggers a new calculation. Programs move between groups, appear or drop off, then the AI reviews the ones affected.

In My profile, answers are grouped by topic and dated. You can edit or delete each one, and “Delete everything” lets you start over.

03

Reading your results

My programs ranks each program in two passes: rules first, then the AI's assessment.

The rules score

Each program has criteria: province, sector, business size, type of project. Each criterion is compared with your answers and marked met, not met or to be clarified. The score is the share of known criteria that are met, weighted by importance. A required criterion that isn't met rules the program out.

  • You seem eligible: a score of 90 out of 100 or more, with no required criterion still unknown.
  • Almost: a score from 70 to 89. Little is missing.
  • To be clarified: too many criteria are still unknown. The list shows how many questions are left.
  • Several criteria are not met: a score below 70.
  • Not eligible: a required criterion isn't met. These programs are hidden, and a button shows them.
  • No detailed criteria: the record lists nothing we can check. See the official website.

The AI's assessment

The AI then reads the full program record alongside your profile. It gives a reasoned assessment (seems eligible, likely, uncertain or not eligible) with a confidence percentage. Its assessment takes precedence over the rules score.

When the AI finds a program eligible or likely, its confidence sets the group: at 60% or more the program goes under “You seem eligible”, below that under “Almost there”. Programs are sorted from the highest percentage down. Each card gives the reason, what is left to check, the deadline and a link to the official page.

While the analysis runs

The analysis office shows the AI at work: the queue of programs to review, the assessment in progress and the programs already sorted. The list updates by itself.

“Stop analysis” stops it right away. Assessments already given stay, and any still on their way are discarded. The analysis resumes when you restart it or answer another question.

Filters and getting your list

Filters narrow the list to one type of assistance (funding, advisory or other) or to open programs only. “Email me my list” sends the list to your inbox.

On a program page, “Why this score” shows the status of each criterion, with the sentence from the official source it is based on.

04

My tracking, deadlines and notifications

Track the programs you care about and get a reminder before their deadline.

Tracking a program

Tap a program's star, in your results or on its page, to add it to My tracking. For each one you can record the status of your application (to apply, applied, received, declined), a note of up to 2,000 characters and a due date. The due date defaults to the program deadline. A tab gathers the due dates in the next 60 days.

When you mark funding as received, you can enter the amount. It counts, without your name, toward the public total of funding received.

Reminders and emails

  • Deadline reminder, for members: an email 14 days and then 3 days before the due date of programs marked as favourite or to apply. Turn it off in My tracking, in My account or from the link in the email.
  • Funding email: if you ticked the box, a weekly list of the programs you seem eligible for, newest first.
  • Newsletter: on the 1st of each month, upcoming deadlines and new programs from your list.

Notifications

Turn on notifications in My account, one device at a time. They are free for every account and go out between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern time.

  • New grants for you: at most once a week, when your list has programs we haven't told you about yet.
  • Deadlines in your tracking: 14 days and then 3 days before.
  • A reminder if you haven't visited in a month: at most once a month, only when there is something new for you, and only if you opted in separately.

On a computer or Android device, your browser receives the notifications. On iPhone, they come through the Subvention.app app.

05

Prepare my application

A program's application file, ready to follow: documents, steps, forms and what is missing.

On a program page, “Prepare my application” opens its file. You need an account. The AI reads the official page and the program's documents, which can take a minute, and every item cites its source. The file then stays in My applications.

  • Documents to provide
  • Steps
  • Forms and submission
  • What your profile already answers
  • What is missing: a question to answer, a document or the form

You then submit the application yourself to the organization, which alone decides whether to accept it.

Your documents

Add your documents to the file: business plan, financial statements, completed form or other, as PDF, DOCX, PNG or JPEG up to 20 MB. On iPhone, the app can also scan a document.

Your documents stay private. The AI pulls answers for your profile from them, each with a quote from the document, without ever replacing an answer you already gave or filling in a sensitive answer. They are kept for 12 months after their last use, and you can delete them at any time.

Help complete the file

Do you have the form or a missing piece of information? Send a web address, some text or a file. The model checks that it is about this program and contains nothing about a specific person or business. If so, it joins the program's file for the next people; if not, it stays private. You can send up to 20 contributions a day.

How many applications

Opening a new file uses one of your applications. Reopening a file already prepared is free. Supporter gives you 2 applications that never expire. Pro and Partner include 10 applications per calendar quarter, which do not carry over.

06

Account, profiles and sign-in

An account keeps your profiles, your list and your tracking, on any device.

Creating an account

You can answer the questions without an account: your profile then stays tied to this browser. The account is created at the end of the questions, with your first name, phone number, email and a 6-digit PIN. It lets you receive your list by email and come back later on any device.

Signing in

You sign in with your phone number and PIN. Forgot your PIN? Enter your number and a temporary PIN, valid for 30 minutes, goes to the account's email. We don't send text messages.

Several profiles

An account can hold one profile per business, up to 25, and one profile for your household. Each profile has its own answers, list of programs and tracking. Switch between them with the selector in the header, or in My account under My profiles, where you can also rename or delete them.

My account

  • First name and email language.
  • Email and phone number: a change is confirmed with a 6-digit code sent to your email, valid for 15 minutes.
  • PIN: you change it by entering your current PIN first.
  • Newsletter, deadline reminders and notifications.
  • My data: a JSON file with everything we keep about you, except your PIN.
  • Authorised apps: the apps connected to your account, such as Claude.ai through the MCP server. Remove the ones you no longer use.
  • Delete my account.

My reports

Not sure what to look for yet? Ask for your first opportunity report, free. It contains leads written by the AI from your profile, and each one points to a real program in the catalogue. The report arrives within 24 hours in My reports, and by email if you have an account.

With Pro or Partner, a new report arrives every month.

07

Good to know

  • Supporter, Dev and Pro require an account. A partnership can be paid without one, then gets linked to a business profile.
  • Dev, Pro and Partner belong to a profile: each business and your household has its own. Supporter's 2 applications go to your account.
  • Dev and Pro are subscriptions that renew automatically. Cancel any time from My account, in the Stripe portal. Access lasts until the end of the paid period, which is not refunded.
  • A partnership lasts 12 months and does not renew automatically. We write to you 30 days and then 7 days before it ends. A payment made in the last 30 days renews it with no gap; an earlier payment adds MCP calls to the current year.
  • Partners never influence the AI's assessments or the order of programs.
  • Taxes: GST, QST or HST depending on your province, calculated by Stripe at checkout. Receipts are in the Billing section of My account, or on the Billing and receipts page if you don't have an account.
  • The Member and Donation plans have not been offered since October 6, 2026. Payments made before that date keep their original terms.

08

For developers: the MCP server

Your AI agent searches programs and assesses eligibility for the profiles on your account.

The MCP server is an eligibility advisor. It works with Claude.ai and Claude Code, ChatGPT, Gemini CLI and other MCP clients. The transport is Streamable HTTP: one JSON-RPC 2.0 message per POST request, with no session. Access is included in the Dev, Pro and Partner plans.

Connecting

  • With OAuth: in Claude.ai, open Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, then paste the server address. You sign in with your phone number and PIN, with no key to copy. The app then appears in My account under Authorised apps, where you can remove its access.
  • With an API key: create an sk_sub_ key on your MCP access page, which opens after payment, then send it in the Authorization: Bearer header. The key is shown only once. Up to three keys can be active at a time, and a revoked key stops working immediately.

The flow

Pick a profile with lister_profils or create one with creer_profil. Then ask for questions_suivantes, save each answer with repondre, and call evaluer. Repeat while questions remain. If evaluer returns analyse_ia_en_cours, call it again a little later: the AI is still reviewing the list.

Quota

  • 100 calls per year for each dollar paid over the year: 6,000 with Dev, 64,800 with Pro, 25,000 for a $250 partnership, and 500,000 at most.
  • The quota is released monthly, and unused calls carry over.
  • Every tool call counts. Each key is also limited to 60 calls per minute.

Rules

  • Profiles created through MCP are regular profiles on your account, visible on the website, within the limit of 25 businesses and one household.
  • If you create profiles for your clients, you must have their consent, including explicit consent for sensitive information. You are responsible for it under Quebec's Law 25.
  • A program's full record is only returned if evaluer sent that program to your account in the last 30 days. Rebuilding, bulk-storing or reselling the catalogue is not allowed.
  • Results are for information only: your agents must not present them as a guarantee.

What about an API?

There is no public REST API. Automated access to programs goes through the MCP server.

09

Privacy, anonymization and deletion

Your answers are used to find your funding. They are never sold or rented.

Where your information goes

Partners never see profiles, and your answers are not passed on to funding organizations or any other third party. Servers and the database are hosted by Railway in the United States (Virginia). The AI model runs on Modal, on a server reserved for Subvention.app, and your answers are not used to train a model.

Before entrusting your information to these providers, we completed the privacy impact assessment required by Law 25.

Deleting your data

  • One answer: the Delete button in My profile.
  • All the answers in a profile: “Delete everything”.
  • A whole profile: in My profile, or in My account under My profiles.
  • The account and all its profiles: Delete my account, in My account. Your payments stay in our accounting records, without your email, as tax law requires.
  • Before deleting, “Export my data” in My account gives you everything we keep about you.

Anonymization

When you delete your answers, a profile or your account, everything that could identify you is destroyed: name, NEQ, first name, phone number, email, PIN, city, project description, notes, exact amounts and sensitive answers. Only an anonymized version remains, with no link to you. It keeps, for example, the administrative region, the first two digits of the sector, a range for the number of employees and the project types.

This version is kept for 10 years for statistics, studies shared with researchers and our annual report. It is never sold and never used to train an AI. We only publish totals that group at least 10 people.

Retention periods

  • Profile and account: as long as you keep them.
  • A profile created without an account and unused for 12 months: anonymized, then deleted.
  • Questionnaire steps, program page views and clicks: 13 months, then monthly totals only.
  • Documents added to an application: 12 months after their last use.
  • Payments: 6 years, for our tax obligations.

AI assessments

An AI assessment is for information only, not a decision. You can ask which information led to an assessment and have a person review it, through the “Contact us” form at the bottom of every page.

10

Mobile apps and FAQ

Use Subvention.app in your browser, or as an app on your phone.

Installing the website

On a computer or Android device, your browser offers to add Subvention.app to your home screen. On iPhone, in Safari, tap Share, then “Add to Home Screen”. The site then opens like an app.

The iPhone app

The Subvention.app iPhone app (iOS 18 or later) shows the website itself, so it picks up every site update without a download. It receives notifications and can scan a document for an application.

Plans and payments are not shown in the store apps: you sign up for them on the website.

Android

A Google Play app is coming. In the meantime, install the website from your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Cost, commission, sources, how often programs are updated: the short answers are on the FAQ page. For anything else, write to us through the “Contact us” form at the bottom of every page.
